My progress on my final project 7


What I have been doing and how my progress is going- 

I have decided to make a model with a poster 

I have completed my model first and then I will go onto my poster. 

I created a draft as well to use when I complete my actual poster.

So far my model has turned out just the way I want it. 

And I really like it. 

I have create my model from cardboard and plastic

I taped it together with electric tape and I have beads on it to look like tiny LED lights

A reflection on my project 8


How my project has gone so far....

A reflection- I felt that this project was simple but was also challenging at times. I think over the months since April it was very easy. the only part that was challenging over others was the pitch presentation. 

What I learned- I learned lots about my natural disaster (sinkholes) and everything I need to know to be an expert on sinkholes. 

The positives- The blogs we had to make were fairly easy and a great way to document how our projects were going. 

The negatives- There was not many negatives of the project the only thing that was difficult was the amount of time we had sometimes it was enough but not always. It was also a little challenging to get our blogs in, on the perfect time.

  • Portable Carrier - $15.00



Cost in all- $40.00 to $50.00

My technology would mitigate the effects of a sinkhole by

acting as an alarm system or GPS that sends a warning if a

sinkhole is about to happen, it measures density levels.

My Mitigation technology is called The Density Measure Machine 500 

-Measures densities 


-Sends out a siren when a sink hole is about to occur 


-Portable 


Why it's great: 


1. Since an alarm system for your house or GPS for your car is affordable, I know my mitigation technology would also be affordable.

2. We could come up with a monitor to tell us when a sinkhole might occur. When were in our cars we could attach a monitor system so when the ground starts to become uneasy the monitor could set off a small alarm letting you know that a sinkhole is about to happen.

3. If your in your house you could have a monitor., almost like an alarm system that would go off if your house is about to collapse

What original technology could you come up with? Explain as thoroughly as possible.

  • We could come up with a monitor to tell us when a sinkhole might occur.
  • When were in our cars we could attach a monitor system so when the ground starts to become uneasy the monitor could set off a small alarm letting you know that a sinkhole is about to happen. If your in your house you could have a monitor, almost like an alarm system that would go off if your house is about to collapse


How could you improve some of the current technologies for your natural disaster


  • Scientists have come up with Radar technology, which transmits electronic pulses to let people know when a sinkhole is about to happen, we could advance thus by making it available to everyone



Is your technology idea feasible/possible? Why or why not? Be specific in your explanation.


  • Yes, if alarm systems in your home or gps systems in your car are possible then a sinkholes monitor is definitely possible

Is your technology idea cost effective (is this affordable)? Why or why not?


  • I think my monitor system would be efficient and affordable because it's almost like a alarm system in your home and that's affordable

What is mitigation?

 Mitigation means to reduce the seriousness or sadness from something.


When it comes to natural disaster, mitigation means to help protect someone or something, or help someone or something fix a problem

What mitigation technologies currently exist for your natural disaster?


  • Scientists have come up with Radar technology, which  transmits electronic pulses to let people know when a sinkhole is about to happen

What are the pro’s and con’s of some of the mitigation technologies currently available?
Why is it important to advance or totally replace the existing technologies?

  • The pros are that the radar helps scientists see if the earth's crust is shifting
